13: Podcasting 101

In this episode we chose a topic based on a listener request. We recently were asked to talk about audio blogging and podcasting…

Podcasting pet peeves:

  1. Don’t say you have a podcast when you don’t. Audio files on your website aren’t podcasts. Podcasts are audio files with that can to be subscribed to via RSS feeds.
  2. You don’t have to have an iPod to do anything with podcasting. Though you would more than likely want to download podcasts to an iPod, it’s not necessary

Getting started with podcasting: Equipment

  • Internal microphone on your computer (not a great quality audio more than likely, but still an option)
  • Handheld microphones (USB mics that plug into your computer are easily found)
  • Headset microphones (also plug into your computer via a USB port)

Getting started with podcasting: Software

Getting started with podcasting: Hosting

  • Libsyn (for any kind of podcast hosting)
  • Podpoint (for chuches and ministries)
